Red Flags is Eric Ryan’s second EP. It is a journey of attraction, desire, and self awareness.

Hailing from Toronto, Eric teams up with kaiyel, Maria-Therese and Ley Vara to help paint an imperfect picture of how it feels to see love through a filtered lens.

“Floored” featuring kaiyel, encapsulates just how one person can truly take your breath away. When the vibes are right and the lights are low, through the fog is where their aura shines the brightest.

It’s the looks exchanged, the future manifested, the speechless passion that has both of them joined in their own delightful ways.

Knotted together over a crisp guitar line and romantic drum beat, Eric and kaiyel’s voices lift each other over their hazy gazes. The background vocals from each artist echo their lover’s beauty as exquisite and divine as the range they both arise to.

This is a compliment of the highest caliber--to take one look and make another experience their own form of gravity. Here’s to hoping they use it for good reasons only.

“So Bad,” featuring Maria-Therese, has had me in a chokehold since its release last November. This is the type of desire that everyone should experience at least once.

With extra saucy guitar riffs and a gooey percussion, this song is the ultimate pick up line. Both artists bring a delectable energy to this track. Equally captivating in their own ways, they continue to build upon established magnetism that you can feel in the first fifty seconds.

I challenge you to not send this to someone you’ve given the looks to, chances are they’ve already thought about hitting your line. This is just the cherry on top.

“Loose,” featuring Ley Vara, holds a tension that feels like you’re interrupting a private moment. The chemistry in this third track is wildly intense in all the perfect ways.

It slows the occasion down to the max, forcing you to note every breath you take. Like a whisper in your ear, it tickles your brain the way you like it best. A gentle, seductive tune out of the others on the EP, this pairing of voices is a big green flag.

This game of who will make their move first has me wanting to know more. But… maybe after those two get their alone time.

“Yeah,” is the track that makes me clutch my pearls the tightest. This is where the brightest red flag lies.

Starting off the song with “tastes like poison everytime you kiss me,”, you already know you’re in for a rollercoaster. It is the ups and downs of the lyrics that make me question the nature of this relationship. The last thread being physical intimacy is sturdy, but also only offered to him with a side of abuse.

Eric’s repeated “yeah”s get sadder each line. He seems stuck in a cycle of not getting what he needs, while settling for crumbs from the one he’s with. Wrapped up in sugar coated lies and tainted love, this song makes manipulation and sweet nothings sound catchy and almost decent.

“Red Flags,” featuring kaiyel, is a perfect example of how matching energies can push you farther away from those you want to stay close to.

The line “a tsunami needs a hurricane” tells you all you need to know about the person Eric is after being introduced to this chaos.

Embedded in a soothing guitar and a wavy synth, Eric and kaiyel try to make sense of the card they’ve been dealt. They would do anything for their lovers although they know something isn’t right.

Striving to stick with their heart’s desires, it is tough to take yourself out of the issues and see it for what it is. One day, they can hopefully turn their red flags green, and we’ll experience another EP from Eric to match this growth.
